History

Prices Fresh Bakery and Cafe was an idea fostered by brothers Dene, Brian and Paul Price who had previously operated a state-wide wholesale bakery in Kadina and Seaton, South Australia.

These fourth-generation brothers are part of a baking family dating back to 1876 who wished to continue the challenge of providing fresh baked products with a modern twist to today’s generations. Their Great Great Grandfather Thomas Price commenced baking in Paskeville in 1876, where he also farmed and ran a general store. Thomas’s son John Clift Price carried on the tradition as did John Owen Keith (Keith) Price and his family of seven sons and two daughters. Dene, Brian and Paul are the sons of “JOK” as he was fondly referred to and today they are assisted by a loyal and dedicated team of capable bakers and retail staff. Corinne, Joy and Jill have ably supported their partners. Grant (son of Brian and Joy) is a fifth-generation baker working in the current business.

In September 2004 they opened the first “Prices Fresh” at 544 Port Road Allenby Gardens. This was a stand-alone business with a drive through service, plentiful parking for dine in and take away sales. Painted in the distinguishable bright colours of purple and gold, this soon become a popular destination for families, business people, tradespeople and retirees. Prices Fresh provides friendly and efficient service with a country feel.

Following the success of this venture a second “Prices Fresh” was opened at 465 North East Road Hillcrest in June of 2007, followed by the Golden Grove shop in April 2010. All outlets closely resemble each other, and this has made them easily recognizable to our customers. The management of Prices Fresh are looking to the future with confidence and have a magnitude of ideas to grow their business.
